Oakland Steiner School

Oakland Steiner School is an independent Waldorf school grounded in the philosophy and methods of Rudolf Steiner, founder of the first Waldorf school in 1919. From pre-school through eighth grade, the Waldorf teachers at Oakland Steiner School are committed to providing an education that deepens the natural joy and wonder of learning.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum in which artistic and creative activities are integrated with scientific and intellectual study to create a balance among the sciences, humanities and arts. This fosters a genuine inner enthusiasm for learning that is the hallmark of Waldorf education.

Oakland Steiner School has been attracting students since 1989 from throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. Affiliated with the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America, Oakland Steiner School is one of four Waldorf schools in southeastern Michigan, among over 800 Waldorf schools worldwide. You can find us in the historic Stiles School building in Rochester Hills, just north of Troy.
