Throughout the summer, we’ll meet weekly to enjoy nature, fellowship, and physical activity. Any families associated with the OSS community are welcome. Each month, we will focus on one Metro Park, County Park, Natural Area, or Trail System. We’ll gather together and enjoy a casual 1-2 mile walk through varying habitats and terrain. As the parent of children in the Sun and Star Classes, our walking/hiking will be friendly to the little ones, though there’s much to be enjoyed by all. And, anyone may extend the hike through other trails in the area at the same time. Come once, once in a while, or every week – it’s up to you. No RSVP or sign-up needed. All children must be accompanied by their parent or other custodial adult.
In September, participation and interest will be assessed and decision will be made whether to continue the club. We might meet to walk March-October – and wouldn’t it be great to extend further into the year with cross-country skiing or snowshoeing?!
Like the OSS Ski Club, the Hiking Club is not an official school-sponsored event. It’s simply an activity growing out of the OSS community, with the school helping to share the information.
