Summer Camp
A variety of classes will be offered this summer for children in grades 2 through 6. Download the Summer Camp Brochure for more information and the schedule. Choose from the following offerings:
Handwork, Stories & Games: Enjoy challenging handwork projects in a lively setting. Mrs. Preczewski, Grades 2-6
Fiber & Clay Arts I & II: Explore fiber and clay techniques inspired by literature. Mine for clay on the OSS playground. Mrs. Urda, Grades 2-6
Three Bears’ Picnic, Painting & Games: Create a menu of foods fit for a painting and picnic. Dine in the sunshine. Mrs. Decanini, Grades 2-6
Form and Geometric Drawing: Younger campers practice freehand forms while older students create intricate geometric drawings using compasses, ruler and other materials. Engage in math review, games, and puzzles. Mr. Amrine, Grades 2-6
Games, Movement & Sports: Warm-up each morning with group movement exercises before playing outside sports or games to include soccer, basketball, kickball, softball, capture the flag and Frisbee, to name a few. Change to indoor board or card games for rainy day merriment. Mr. Amrine, Grades 2-6
Drama, Poetry & Storytelling: Begin each day with speech exercises, drama games and movement before acting out short skits, plays and stories. Recite poetry, speeches and verses. Read and listen to stories and bring them to life through drawing, movement or written work. Mr. Amrine, Grades 2-6
Nature Time, Cooking & Gardening: Walk, run and play in the local habitat. Create sustainable snacks. Dig into seasonal gardening projects. Mrs. Rostker, Grades 2-6
Songs, Games & Crafts: Sing silly songs and play cooperative games in the sunshine. Build nature crafts.
Mrs. Bobola, Grades 2-6
Beginning Strings: Get acquainted with the violin! Present new skills to family and friends at Friday Finale.
Miss Schneider, Grade 3 or no experience
Reading Club: Read individually-selected books and share in discussion, writing, illustrating and speech activities. Build the literacy skills of comprehension, strategy, fluency, listening and speaking. Mr. Amrine, Grades 2-6
Crafts & Cooking Discover: wet felting, needle felting, sewing and paper crafting. Delve into cooking activities and reading time.
Mrs. van Voorhies, Grades 2-6
Intermediate Strings: Make music with violin, viola or cello. Build greater musical knowledge and experience. Present a grand finale concert to family and friends on Friday.
Miss Schneider, Grades 4-5 or 1-3 years exp.
Sessions will run weekly from June 25, 2010 to August 13, 2010. The morning session will be from 9:00a.m.- 1p.m. and the afternoon session from 1p.m. – 3p.m. There will be before care and after care available as well.
Weekly Camp Fees: $160 morning class, $80 afternoon class, $25 before care. After care is billed at $4 an hour.
