Farewell to our Beloved Home...

Picture
The experiences at Oakland Steiner School shall be ever etched in the hearts, minds and memories of the families, the children and the teachers that journeyed through her.

It is now time to say farewell to the physical home of the Oakland Steiner School at Rochester Rd and Livernois.  The building is currently for sale, and if all goes well, the building will continue to be a school with the laughter and wonder of childhood still resonating in the halls of our beloved home.

Please leave a note, a thought, or a wish on this page, as a remembrance of the impact of your experience at the Oakland Steiner School and the blessings that it has bestowed upon you.

"Spirit Triumphant! Flame through the weakness of faltering, fainthearted souls! Burn up egoism, kindle compassion, so that selflessness, the lifestream of humanity, may flow as the wellspring of spiritual rebirth!" — Rudolf Steiner

Oakland Steiner School has had a 27 year life. It had a beginning, a middle and seems now to have an end.
It nourished many families and students. It inspired countless adults to parent in a conscious, consistent way that allowed children to grow up safely within the container of their parents’ guidelines. It was good. It was a good season.

This autumn I have learned a lot about seasons and acceptance. As the leaves changed, even though we missed the warm summer breezes, we did not despise the gorgeous reds, golds, and yellows. While I was stunned to hear the doors did not actually open for Oakland Steiner School this fall, I now am accepting the end of Oakland Steiner School as it has been, and wait in joyful anticipation to see what the new season will hold. My vision is that we do not see this as a failure and death, but rather a season that has ended, as they all do.

Waldorf Education in Michigan is thriving. I have every confidence that Waldorf Education will again be available to students and families in Oakland County.

I am grateful beyond words for the energy, hope, dreams, time, money, and effort that so many involved people put into Oakland Steiner School. We knew it was an important deed for mankind when we birthed it. I have watched a great many of you tend it, raise it, and grow it. Thank you for these 27 years.
