SCRIP

What is SCRIP?

Scrip is a simple and effective fundraising program that we can do without spending a single penny and without selling anything! Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. With every purchase, you earn revenue for our school. The beauty of scrip is that you generate money for the school by making purchases you would make anyway. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program. Scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gifts, gasoline and even dining out.

How Scrip generates money for the school

The Great Lakes Scrip Center (GLSC) acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families for full face value. The discount is from two to fifteen percent or more.

An organization of 150 families can spend between one and two million dollars per year on food, clothing and other essentials. If these families use scrip for these purchases, they can raise as much as $40,000 to $80,000 per year for their organization.

How to participate

Stock up now on cards from your favorite retailers. Or sign up for Presto Pay, and you can reload cards from the convenience of your home computer. Also keep in mind that there is a "Scrip Now" program, which allows you to buy online without having to wait for delivery of a Scrip card.  This is perfect for those last minute online purchase!

It is never a bad time to enroll in the Scrip program if you have not been able to do so yet.  Please start today!

You should have received SCRIP fliers in your mailbox.  Please see them also attached here!

The option is also available to order cards using the paper form and pay with a check turned into the OSS office.

Any questions about enrollment, ordering cards, etc., please contact the Scrip coordinator --  Rob White at rjwhite01@gmail.com or 248-266-6393.

Remember: All proceeds from the Scrip program go toward the construction of a new Outdoor Learning Enivornment / Natural Playground for OSS

Family participation is the key to making this an effective program. Thanks for your support! Any questions, just ask!
