Waldorf 101: Child Development and Educational Success
Tuesday, February 9th at 4:30 PM
There seems to be more pressure than ever today for our nation’s youth in traditional school settings. In what has been a multi-generational effort to enhance our country’s academic standings, collective solutions over the years have often focused on more rigorous standards to guide academic development in the United States.
Results of these efforts often manifest in the form of more testing, more focus on rote-based learning skills, and worst of all, the introduction of reading, writing and other elements of learning to children that developmentally are not yet ready to engage. The culmination of such can often lead to significant distress in school-age children and teenagers. Please join us for an informal evening of discussion on this topic with Dr. Sian Owen-Cruise, Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor, High School Coordinator and experienced Waldorf educator.
This presentation and discussion offers parents an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Waldorf Education. The Waldorf approach to child development and education includes innovative methodology that integrates comprehensive, age-appropriate academics with rich artistic experiences and practical work. Dr. Owen-Cruise will provide an overview of the Waldorf curriculum from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, demonstrating how Waldorf’s developmental approach prepares a child to meet the future with confidence, self-direction and purpose, and awakens in students a lifelong love of learning. Waldorf education is one of the world’s fastest-growing educational models.
FREE - Reservations not required for the presentation and discussion
